Day 20 of 31: Pray for Peace

Today we begin warring against specific attacks- battles the enemy uses to take us out. For the next ten days we will pray FOR what God has promised us to combat Satan's snares. We will focus on praying for those who are in the midst of the struggle.

My husband, Michael and I went on a cruise for a 20th anniversary. The last day of the magical trip, we couldn’t avoid a hurricane. The ship tossed back and forth and most of us stayed in our rooms popping Dramamine and wishing for calmer seas. The best the captain was hoping for was to skirt the edge and get through it quickly.

Unfortunately, some of the rough seas we experience in life can’t be quickened and can’t be skirted. Sometimes the only way out is through. And the only way through is with peace.
Mark 4:39: Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful?
Satan longs to fill us with fear and rob us of the peace the Lord freely gives us all.

John 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Reflection: Do you know someone who is in a constant state of fear, or anxiety? Do you know someone whose life is in a stormy season? Put their name in place of “his people” in the verse below. Make it a part of your prayer.

Psalm 29:11: The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we lift up all of your children who struggle with fear. We know that Your perfect love casts out fear and replaces it with perfect peace. This world offers only counterfeit solutions for the anxiety that plagues so many. When we accept your love, your presence travels with us across waves of “what ifs” try to take us under. We pray peace- peace across the globe-peace inside our homes-peace inside our hearts.
