Day 1 of 31: Strength

I always thought the Proverbs 31 woman was “mamby-pamby.” You know, a mild-mannered mouse who was pure, innocent, submissive, and girly. I always bristled against that idea when church people set that up as a model for women. (probably because I’m a little mouthy and a little bold-okay a lot mouthy) Recently I did some research and discovered the word “virtuous” in that scripture is the word, “chayil.” The meaning blew my mind – “strength, might, efficiency, wealth, able, power, virtue, valor”. It is the same word used to describe David and men of valor, so there is nothing mamby-pamby about that! In fact, valor means strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with firmness - personal bravery. I want that! We NEED that for such a time as this! The enemy is targeting our faith through pain, loss, heartache, and disease. I am begging God to show us how to fight with His strength and His wisdom through His word and prayer. This journey isn't for the faint of heart. It's for the women who are willing to cry out for God to strip us of what hinders us, restore us to the strong beauty He created, and equip us for spiritual warfare.  #adifferentmarch

Reflection: How do you think about strength? Where do you need personal bravery in your life?

Prayer: Dear Lord, show me what it means to be brave. I desire to be a woman whose strength of mind and spirit comes from You. I commit to march forward, taking territory for my family, for my community and for my country for Your Kingdom’s sake. Show me how to take hold of Your words with all of my heart. Teach me to guard my heart and fix my gaze directly before me. Help me to give careful thought to the paths before me and be steadfast in all my ways. Amen. (Proverbs 4)
